Although not advertised and usually on less traveled streets, there are numerous second-hand stores throughout the city. Some are simply second-hand or consignment stores, others are run by non-profit organizations that use their store’s revenues to fund humanitarian work helping people suffering from HIV and AIDS, the homeless, and other issues."

Introducing Breeze Giannasio, Guest-Blogger
From a sun-kissed, bare-footed Hawaiian upbringing, Breeze trotted off to wintry New England (with sidebars in Argentina and Italy) to be steeped in philosophy and fine arts at Wellesley and Harvard. In a moment of weakness, she submitted to a Harvard Law education and six years practicing as a corporate lawyer but has recently had the good sense to redirect her trajectory towards interior design, a life-long passion. Breeze is currently finishing her masters in interior design at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington DC. This past summer she could be found burning the midnight oil in Copenhagen and Helsinki, studying interior architecture, not to mention perfecting the art of riding her city bike in heels. When not designing classic interiors for the modern eye, she can be found supporting the arts in Washington DC, and serves as Chair of the Advisory Board of The Dupont Underground, a non-profit attempting to retrofit an abandoned underground streetcar station into a cutting-edge art and design center. Her favorite sport remains transforming things with potential!
